The future of infinite

The name Infinite serves multiple meanings. It was always meant to be constantly updated and maintained with new features, new gear, more polish and more maps that players can continue to enjoy for years to come whether that be online or offline against the ITP AI players. Below is a list of items planned for future releases. I want to stress that as a one man operation I cannot provide fully accurate time frames, game development is a very delicate process and there can often be unforeseen complications that may delay some of these goals. You can rest assured I'm hard at work to bring your ideas to light and make Infinite the best paintball game available!
* The list shown below is in no particular order and items are subject to change! New items will also be added where necessary. Some details may be withheld for confidentiality reasons *

- More game modes/gameplay styles -

Infinite's primary focus is the tournament aspect of paintball, but that doesn't mean we're gonna leave recball/woodsball and other gameplay styles out of the picture! It's worth noting that programming game modes is extremely time consuming and requires extensive testing so it may take some time but don't lose hope!

Currently Planned Game Modes
  • Woodsball/scenario with and without respawning
  • Glowball (Already Implemented)
  • Hyperball (Already Implemented)
  • 10 Man (Already Implemented)

- More maps/layouts -

We want to keep things fresh! New layouts will come as they are released, we'll also continue to add original layouts and maps that can cater to other game modes and styles.

- More gear -

We're always working on adding new gear of all types! Even after the full release we plan to keep adding to the gear catalogue for years to come! This includes gear from brands currently shown in game and future brands we partner with.

- Career mode -

With the addition of AI for offline play, a proper career mode is in the pipeline.

Planned Career Mode Features

  • Build your team, win tournaments to earn xp and skill points that can be applied to you and your team mates.
  • Use skill points to improve accuracy, speed, marker handling, snap speed and more.
  • Play through various seasons from our partner leagues (WCPPL, USXBL, MVPS, NCPA)
  • Unlock special gear and skins only earned through Career mode
  • Participate in optional events to earn extra xp and skill points. These events will include special gameplay styles or game modes such as Mech, Woodsball, Hyperball, Glowball and more.
  • Climb your way through the ranks, D1 to Pro

- Console release -

Earlier this year we were approved to develop Infinite for consoles. Making Infinite accessible to console players is a bucket list item for me personally and it's a major milestone for FiveTwo Games there are a few more items that will need to be crossed off before we get there.

Rough list of what needs to be done before console release
  • Single Player / Career Mode (In Progress)
  • Controller Optimizations (Mostly Complete)
  • UI Optimizations (Mostly Complete)
  • Improvements to AI (In Progress)
  • Migrating to an Online Subsystem that is supported on PC and Consoles (In progress)

The goal is to bring the game to a semi finished state before console release. Updates with new gear, fields, layouts etc. are still planned to continue even after the full release.

How long will the porting process take?

I’m not in a position where I can give an estimated timeline just yet unfortunately. There's a few more milestones we need to cross before I can be more concrete. I know this answer may not be satisfactory and I understand completely, but I'd rather be open and honest in saying I don't know an exact time frame just yet. As we get closer and a more concrete timeline can be determined I will announce it through the appropriate channels.

What systems will be supported?

The systems we plan to support are PC, PS5 and Series X/S. I know there’s still a number of players for PS4 and Xbox One, I will make an effort to release to the previous gen consoles but cannot make any guarantees.
